Google adds Safe Browsing for Firefox to thwart Phishing attemps

Google Safe Browsing extension for Firefox

Google has added an extension to the Firefox Browser that alerts you if a web page that you visit appears to be asking for personal or financial information under false pretences.  This type of attack, known as phishing or spoofing, is becoming more sophisticated, widespread and dangerous.

To thwart this type of attack, install Firefox, then go to the link below for Google Safe Browsing and install the Google-Safebrowsing.xpi extension.

Yahoo! phishing warning - 01/25/06

Yahoo! phishing warning - Channel Register Jan 25 2006 11:45AM GMT [Computer security news - news headlines from around the web.]

Upon clicking on the website, users are forwarded to a fraudulent website, which is hosted in the United States and was up at the time of this alert. It requests their Yahoo! Photos username and password. Once users have entered their username and password, they receive an error message that their email account was incorrect, at which time the account information is forwarded to a third party and the end-users' account information could then be compromised.
